The purpose of the English Gambling Education Hub is to provide clear and consistent, evidence based information, support and education to those working with children and young people.

Our work aims to enhance the capability of Youth Services, Family Services, Formal Education and other services in England to provide early intervention and prevention regarding gambling harms to young people.

The EGEH has been commissioned by GambleAware to raise awareness and reduce the impact of gambling harms on children and young people, in collaboration with the Scottish and Welsh Gambling Education Hubs.

Why we exist

Research from the Gambling Commission (2022) suggests that 31% of 11-16 year olds spent their own money gambling in the last 12 months, with 2.4% already being classed as “at risk” by the age of 16.

As young people reach the age of 18, they become increasingly vulnerable to gambling harms, and we believe education plays a vital role in preventing harm.

Online gambling is now part of the statutory RSE curriculum in schools, and many youth organisations are looking for advice on how to tackle the subject of gambling. Our portal offers guidance on where and how to access information, training and resources so that you can initiate conversations around gambling harms.
